The current Mrs Onionman made this faux 1920's travel style poster for me from our last holiday. Thought I'd share it...

Lovely pic. Is it a hand drawn copy of a poster?

....or is it a computerised copy and print version?

It looks like Mrs Onionman took one of their holiday snaps and applied some artistic filters and colours and then somehow gave it that rather swanky sepia framing. I think it would make a nice piccy to convert into an embroidery / tapestry pattern.

Think it's an adapted image (and good result). An artist would prob leave out the humdrum bits (scew-wiff button fender and nav lights/spotlamp).

If one made allowances for the obviously modern boat, it would look good on the wall of a Great Western Railway carriage compartment.

Mrs Onionman is a graphic designer.  She took the pic and did an astounding amount of work in photoshop to get it to look right. She's a huge fan of the old railway posters, you know the kind.

Perhaps my favourite - not least because it depicts my favourite steam railway as it was (or as the artist saw it) in, I think, the 1930s.

Is it me, or is the boat a bit small for the bridge (or arsy-versy)? I don't know the K&A at all, but perhaps I'm just too accustomed to narrow canals.

Thanks for confirming - no offence intended, and it is a good picture regardless.

 

I need to spend more time on wide canals.

 

(Actually I need to spend more time on ANY canal!)
