Ok, so low sulphur diesel helps things... I wonder though perhaps Alan de Enfield has plenty of rads (ie well in excess of the 5.2kw load) so that the heater is always working nice and hard?

It’s recommended to have at least 5.7kw of rads so the heater works hard.

Taken from the Webasto manual

When the temperature rises to reach 72° C the heater

switches to the energy saving part load operation. A rise

in temperature up to 76.5° C causes the heater to enter a

control idle period. This also happens when exceeding a

total heating operating time of 76 minutes.

After cool-down of the coolant to 71° C the heater

resumes part load operation. Another rise in temperature

to 76.5° C causes the heater to enter again the control idle

period. A drop in the coolant temperature during part load

operation due to an increased demand in heat will cause

the heater to switch to full load operation at 56° C.

hope this helps

I have a 10kw Ebber on my 64' NB. I have 4 largish double radiators a towel rail and 2 x hot water cylinders.

I don't live aboard but when y=using the boat over a weekend I switch on and leave it running until I go to bed when I switch off. Back on following morning. I have added an override switch which keeps the unit running all the time. It drops from flat out to a third of its speed after about 2 hours. Always starts, its been brilliant. About 7 years old.

I've run my top C for up to 12 hours a day in winter without any problems. It's over 10 years old and never been serviced. I reckon running them for long periods is good for them.  I think it's a falacy that they coke up running at half power. Mine goes to half power after about 30 mins. I run 3 double radiators & calorifier.

Wow reaĺly,  right then.

I will keep adding hours to my eberspacher, I think their shit though.

Not been to bed for 2 days and lit my fire 4 times...(ash done 5 times)
