It's a 24hr period, I've just locked her up again before I left for work

According to the definitions in the Bye-Laws :

“night” means the period between sunset and sunrise, "day" means the period between sunrise and sunset.

So it appears that you actually let her out for the 'night' rather than the 'day'.

She seems to prefer the night so I push the rules a touch

When I was young and  slim fit I used to suffer from chill. My best ever yachty  pressy was a sort of fur lined garment, it was worn for two years till there was no furry stuff left. It was HH mid layer,

PS a good fit young man can help pass the night, doubling as a hot water bottle, but if he complains that your feet are cold, that's the thin edge of that particular wedge.

Boyf's are designed to have their girlf's cold feet stuck on them at night. Tis the natural law of the word. ?
