Researching the history of my boat 'No 45436'

I am hoping to get some info on the early years of my narrowboat. A couple of weeks ago I put up a similar thread but using the boat name, not the number. It has just occurred to me that it is quite likely that the name has been changed and consequently would mean nothing to anyone who knew the boat before the name change. If you do recognise this number please take a look at my earlier thread about 'Detrytus' and let me know if you recognise this boat.

Sorry, I put the incorrect number in the title

Unfortunately Tom I think you may struggle to find anything.

most of the boats with a known history tend to be former working boats where their history can be traced through company records (loading records, tolls paid, health inspections etc)

generally newer boats (built as leisure craft) aren't as well known and very few records are kept.

the upshot is that unless a boat has a famous (or infamous) owner or somehow gains a reputation (such as the camouflage boat a few years back) nobody really keeps track of where it is / was or who was on it or owned it.

Jess, David - Thank you for your replies. I am slowly realising that this might be a difficult search. It is just going to be luck if the right person sees and recognises the number. I did get a good response to the name, but as I say, it is all very recent. Mind you, very grateful for it anyway.

I think it has been called Detrytus for quite a lot of years.

Often if thee has been a name change on a boat in relatively recent years, the CanalPlanAC boat listing that David pulled out will show a record for both names.

It doesn't, adding to my belief it has had the name quite a while.
