roland elsdon
3 strange prop fulls ( out of many) on the coventry and ashby canals this week. Clothes 2 pairs of jeans and one top with the arms or legs knotted around heavy iron? Weights, all almost stopping engine. not sure if local fishists( they did crap like this in the 80s and 90s) or disposal of evidence . Any ideas. once off prop didnt look too close... pete harrison
I remember back in the early 1980's when gypsies camped near to the Wyrley and Essington Canal were throwing in sacks tied to kerbstones in order to immobilise boats as they caught on the propeller, and kids would tie rope of wire across bridge'oles in Birmingham to catch trip boat steerers in the dark. Who knows whether this really was gypsies or kids but it was still good times
