Hi, I'm looking to make a top box, i know i could buy one to fit cars also from makers off the forum, however I would like to make my own. Was thinking of using decking wood but how do you seal the joins? thick T&G?  Any suggestions/pics of yours welcome. Cheers

Just my opinion but I think car type top boxes on a narrowboat look awfull.

Go wooden.

If you want cheap then I’d suggest tanalised shiplap. You wouldn’t have to pay too much for the tanalising but it’ll then be good for 20+ years. Join it with sikaflex in the grooves.

And I hate great big boxes made of decking, not so bad if angled and with a centre hinge, I think I'd prefer car top box, you could paint it to blend with roof.

Or what about using a solar panel as a lid. Err,  is it just to store junk?
