Hear, hear.  And for frightening the daylights out of young children by lookin like weird, horror film stick insects cycling along in their Lycra, streamlined blue bottle styled helmets and blue chromed wrap around shades.

The ones that insist on White Shorts are the worst..

Surely not another anti cycling thread, with nothing new to add. I don't disagree with your objection to the behaviour mentioned but am weary of the daily mail type backlash these posts inevitably produce.

Don't read them then go back to reading the Daily Mail which you are so, obviously, fond of. The OP is correct. Cyclists on the towpath and on roads are a dangerous menace. It's high time they were licensed and insured.

Did you actually manage to read my entire post? Your reply is pretty much what I was trying to sum up.

The women arn't.

Don't like cyclists on the towpath, but joggers I think are ok.  Especially fit females in spray on jogging suits.

A question for yous,  at what age does a bloke change from being a young stud into a dirty old man ?

That's correct. It is a thread about the definition of a new word which HL has either recently seen or invented. Cyclists are used merely as an example. perhaps, rather than being negative, you could suggest other people or things about whom/.which the term could be used. I suggest an able-bodied person who parks his car in a parking space reserved for the disabled.

Your turn.

Reverting vaguely towards the topic, if not precisely, can anyone explain why cyclists on the towpath wear helmets?

Same reason as canoeists, in case they hit their head on the bottom of the cut.
