Overheating/air requirements? HR2

Hi

This may be a stupid question but sometimes they have to be asked.................

We have just started life with an HR2 and have our first stationary wet day and need to run the engine how much fresh air does it need and how do I know if it’s not getting enough and is overheating

We have a fire on so the boat is warm, the engine sits in a very open engine room but it isn’t vented to the outside it just discharges warm air into the engine room which is obviously nice for warmth but is it an issue???

That's a pretty common installation for an HR so it'll be OK. If you are worried, open the side doors

If you're running it loaded only by the alternator for battery charging it will be producing a fraction of the heat it does when under way.

I doubt there will be any overheating problems but, and an important but, any combustion product leakage from head gasket, exhaust flanges or pipework will build up in the boat  Your lungs, your call!

The limited time I worked a HR powered pair it gave its self away on the odd time it got over hot =loss of power & revs & a greater amount of smoke 5/10 mins running lighter restored it's well being
