Boater Sam
It would be even better if Maureen Shaw was still the steerer, with Jack swinging the windlass. Ah, happy days.
Ray T
Not Spey but Maureen had her last trip on Tay. http://middlewichdiary.com/2013/03/memories-of-boatwoman.html?m=1
matty40s
I was dead chuffed last year in the workshop as we could hear the irregular phutphut of a boat coming from miles away, Bob said here comes William(local Tim Carters boat) and I said, no, its not, different noise and timing, its Spey or Crane...Spey came past a few minutes later.?

X Alan W
ISTR the slight differences in setting & wear in the pecker mech which possibly alters the amount of fuel/timing minutely alters the exhaust note or it could be the oil rod setting & I know on the"Seffle" I had in my boat when the silencer needed the oily gunge cleaning out the note was different to if it was clean the sprayer/injector setting had the most effect on the exhaust note A note on the starting of "Spey's" motor when the guy was topping up the day tank it appeared in the sight glass to be "weasel pee" road diesel rater than " Burgundy " Agri stuff
