Spent ages wodering what was different about the external gear linkage, and today realised it doesnt have the detent spring and rod? Or ball whatever it should be to locate neutral.

its been like this for seven years plus probably 15!! 

The vertical lever is supported by the gear rod so there is no great weight on the mechanism.

is it worth trying to source the bits or shoud i get over it? Half the bits of the engine are already missing in action...
