Another Long Term Leak left unrepairable.

A triumph this week, the canal leak into the field has been fixed.

Crew and digger turned up and dug out the soil behind the leaking piling, replaced with puddling clay.

Erected a pretty yellow fence to keep the cows from "digging in the clay" which is daft, they don't dig but trample the puddling as they did when the canal was built.

Unfortunately as the farmer reckons the plastic fencing will be poisonous to the cows, it will have to go and be replaced with a proper timber fence.

Of course, the canal was leaking because the water level is higher than it has been for years due to the dam at the breach downstream. Must be into the top 6" of dried and cracked clay  tunnelled by wildlife, if you believe that.

Its the chemical dye used in its manufacture. Cows chew things for entertainment and there are newborn calves to consider too.

But what would I know, don't shoot the messenger please.

Sorry, wasn't shooting the messenger, just the breeze. I have my doubts about amateur experts wherever they may pop up!
