You may get a bigger selection looking for ‘oak faced ply’ assuming you want oak.  I used 9mm thick sheets.

I replaced a piece in our ceiling. It never quite matched the original, as the original had got darker over the years.

 

Iirc there are also many different types and cuts of oak veneer, crown, quarter, white oak etc.

Which is why I suggested taking a sample along to the wood yard. 

 

Grain matching is easy but colour matching is an art. And difficult.

You mean he welded your bulkhead?
