Hmm, you should see her close up out of the water

 

Hire boaters don't half give a hull a pounding. She's also managed to repeat her party trick of two years ago and reveal a small hole in the hull just as she arrives in the yard. Not as critical as the one in the rudder tube this time

Oh. That sounds bad? You've prompted me to find someone to look at Melaleuca when she comes out in October. She's 30 too and it's 11 years since the last one.

What's the "ex coal boat"?

 

A "modern build" presumably?  Is it "in the HNBC", as you put it?

Your powers of deduction are waning, a boat two years younger than Tawny is a modern build

I've all but been persuaded, mainly due to the orange blotches on the hull, to have 'RW' grit blasted, zinced and 2 packed this autumn.

I agree. Built by John Pinder somewhere around 1990 for Dave and Brioni Sharman, and powered by an Indian built Ruston and Hornsby twin cylinder diesel engine. Sadly, Dave passed away only a few years later, but Brioni continued to work the Stokie as a coal and diesel boat on the K&A with John Shard. They sold it, quite some while ago, I saw it quite recently and it was looking in a very sad state.

I doubt it, as far as I know John Pinder only built one working boat which was the Stokie, and that was a conversion from a partially built Recreational boat which was a cancelled order.
