Richard T
There are no problems on the Soar in this weather. Don't cut corners as it can be a bit shallow on the inside. Don't moor with tight lines except in the canal sections as water levels can fluctuate. Good shopping in Loughborough Barrow and Birstall. Good secure moorings at Friars Mill and Castle Gardens in Leicester. There are no facilities except for the odd tap between Barrow and Kilby Bridge. There are plenty of good pubs. Take your time and enjoy the rivers.
matty40s
There are now water taps at the new Frog Island moorings in Leicester as well as a re- instated one at the new Memory Lane pontoons. Pump out, diesel and gas are available at Leicester Marina between Birstall and Thurmaston. There is also a very slow water tap at the Hope and Anchor ( use in the morning when the pub isn't using water)
Victor Vectis
Beware of Trent vlockies shutting the gates on you as you approach a lock showing a green light. ETA Apart from that the Trent is lovely. Try mooring on Hazleford lock island for isolation. Edited August 3, 2018 by Victor Vectis
