Ok I've heard back from RichM now. 

 

It seems Posting Rule 3887 has been upgraded to an Unwritten Rule, and mods are under instruction to apply it rigidly just like all the other unwritten rules.

 

Its only permissible to ignore the Written Rules, as any fule kno.

No. Confirming unwritten rules in writing is banned.

It's not banned -- it's just that if you write down an unwritten rule it is no longer an unwritten rule, so different rules then apply.

That sounds like an admission to me. As someone who 'claims' to be new here, you seem to have some opinions on some rather old threads, does doppelganger or sock puppet mean anything to you??
