No bins at Gayton Junction

Apparently the refuse bins at Gayton Junction have been removed and aren't being replaced.

There is some dispute over who pays for it between CRT and Northampton Council whose own refuse collections have been shockingly bad this year, the town is turning into a rotting garbage dump.

I saw the broadcast this morning and thought that Mathew Goldby committed professional hari-kari when he attempted to justify why they are in such a mess.

He said, what few people realise is that we are currently merging with x number other authorities which will involve an inordinate amount of negotiating and restructuring.  This is our priority for this year.

Really?  Is it really Mr Goldby!? ….. and there was me thinking any Council anywhere in the country, regardless of its circumstances would always consider the people they serve in their county as being their priority!

Perhaps that's why you're in such a god awful mess you muppet.

We managed to find a large, but very full, black bin by the side, just yesterday. Perhaps it was someone else's!

If you read today's papers you will know that Northampton County are in deep financial trouble. Sounds like mismanagement on a large scale - but probably politically motivated.

There's not so much political as 'whats in it for me' with Northampton in the last 10 years. Borrowing £10m and lending it to the football club without due diligence then letting it get siphoned off, spending £53m on new offices and having to sell them off and rent from the new owners, buying properties across the country whilst cutting essential services and closing libraries.....etc etc...

  • 3 weeks later...

Visited Gayton Services this morning, and had a chat with someone who works in the area. He said the problem was CRT hadn't been paying Sth Northants council to have the bins emptied. This resulted in the council cancelling the contract with CRT. CRT recently entered into another contract with a rubbish collector who's placed bins in the service area a week or so ago, but since then there's been no rubbish collection. The rubbish is now over flowing. Trouble is where else is there? Loads of flies and wasps about, and it must be really annoying for the nearby houses.

It was also mentioned the service point had been discussed by CRT with a view to having it closed as it's costs about £27k a year. There's been problems with people putting oil down the Elsan point, and other 'things', which has had to be put right.

Hopefully, 'teething problems' and other issues can be sorted quickly.
