Midnight
Whilst the Pocklington canal is very definitely worth a visit the vegetation can be a hinderance. At the recent Pocklington Canal Festival a colleague talked to a CaRT lady who it is alleged said "We don't really want boats up here they threaten the wildlife". What business are these people on? zenataomm
Allegedly …….. It would be worth commenting on if the person allegedly hearing the comment recounted the whole conversation including what they replied with to challenge it. I don't believe a CRT person suddenly blurted it out, what was the context? Was it a volunteer displaying her and her husband's view? Did the recipient of the comment then escalate it to CRT formally or just put it on here so somebody else (with no evidence) could do it?

Or maybe "We don't really want boats to moor up here they threaten the wildlife" on certain parts of the towpath? There are a few SSSI/nature reserve sections on the northern canals that have such mooring restrictions.

Midnight
The lady was CaRT staff. I wasn't there but don't see why my colleague would make it up. Looking at the state of those Rally Moorings I am inclined to think it's very likely at least. The society have spent a lot of money restoring the section from Melbourne to Bielby and will hopefully restore the whole canal in the future. Those people are working very hard to extend the waterways for us boaters, but seem to be swimming against the tide if that's CaRT policy. If it's not the lady may be in the wrong job.

I question the point of the OP.
dogless
And of course C&RT have such a proven track record of keeping waterways open at present.... oh, hang on a minute Rog
