Osterley lock near Brentford

Please be advised Osterley lock no. 98 is closed below Hanwell flight due to a failure with the upper paddle.

Customers are advised to change all cruising route and make use of available facilities at Norwood top lock/Brentford boaters facility. The lock will be re-opened on or before Friday 3rd August.

Lock now open, so I've heard from a reliable source. I'm going through tomorrow.

Just to confirm, we went through there today, the stoppage is over.

There's actual dredging going on in the pound between locks 97 and 98; I saw a digger thing scooping dredged gunk out of one of those barge things into a lorry.

It took us a while to get the pair out of lock 98, but I think it was more a problem of the boats' width (and not being as straight as we might like) than the depth.

I bet that smelt nice. The Brent water quality is very poor - being the intecept for water run off from NW Londons roads.
