Nope, but I have in the past, just out of curiosity tbh, I used to really enjoy growing different plants

Given decent conditions there almost too easy, so I didn't bother again.

Yup that's what I thought - they are the same as used to grow from the detritus thrown out after cleaning out my dad's canaries too - my goodness did those birds sing.  Stalks make great rope for fenders - I guess that's why the OP is growing it ...............

Funnily enough I found out my Dad tried growing it for similar reasons, he couldn't be bothered with the alternative uses but just wanted to see if he could
