How to remove the ignition key from a Suzuki NA12s?

Hi!

 

I'm completely new to boats and bought my first one last autumn, but haven't had the opportunity to try it out until now.

 

The problem I have is that I attached the ignition key into the remote panel, but now I have no clue as how to remove it. The key is like a plastic cylinder that fitted into the Suzuki NA12S remote. Putting it in and starting/stopping was not a problem, just removing it.

 

It seems very difficult to find any information about this topic online, and I've not been able to find the guy I bought it from. So, now I'm putting my faith in that someone here knows the answer.

Is it part of the safety lanyard system?  i.e. designed to kill the engine if the helmsman fall overboard.  If so it may be magnetic and just pull off.

No, the ignition key is separate from the kill switch. However, I've seen in other descriptions that it's supposed to be magnetic. 

 

So, I took your advice and tried to just pull it out, and that was the solution! I gave it a hard yank, and the key came off. Problem solved, many thanks! :)
