hvdb
We are moored just below Birstall Lock. This evening we found that our back rope was thrown off the bollard and we were drifting across the rivier. We heard laughing on the other bank and when we brought the boat back in some objects were thrown to the boat. This does not feel good

zenataomm
Despite the fact I've had a drink, so can't drive, I'm also about 100 mile away. The advice above is excellent. Tell the police you've been cast adrift by yobos while on a river with weirs and they're now using weapons against you.
Timx
Above advice is good, it's a rare occurrence , don't let it bother you too much. It's not a bad location, they are probably in bed now , after there mothers telling them off for being out late on a school night.
hvdb
Thank you for your replies. After wel were tied up again, my husband and the man from the boat in front of us went to have a look. After a word with some lads, it stayed quiet. Helen
roland elsdon
The best way of going anywhere near leicester is during term time in the rain at 0400 in the morning in a hire car with full damage protection. Anything other than that and you are at risk

I like Leicester but then again I used to Police places that make it look like a kindergarten
roland elsdon
Yes its a quaint little place . The natives are friendly, i remember a dark november night driving home from work when stopped at the traffic light 2 locals decided to try and get in the back of the car to introduce themselves. Then there was the house we had to attend in 4 s one to guard the car, the others to carry out the statutory contact, after two staff got stabbed How i used to laugh coming back to the car after a 20 min visit to the broken sidewindow. Carrying Injections in a pocket to prevent being mugged for needles and medications. the cheery tally in the magistrates court of stabbings rapes and beatings from the overnight remands every day, and the overcrowded prison. that was in 2000 im sure its cleaned up since

Moored overnight with my daughter and her friend on board, all of a sudden the boat was being viciously rocked with stuff inside getting smashed as a gang of teenage kids jumped on and off the roof (water levels very low so roof only a short way above towpath. I clambered out to see them running off, 10 minutes later it happened again. I followed them up to the roundabout, on the other side was a parked police car, I had a word. 10-15 minutes later we heard the kids voices again, then suddenly they shouted police and ran off as the two bobbies had followed them down to the river.
