The outlet of the valve looks to me like 1/2" BSP parallel. You could buy a 3/8" compression x 1/2" female BSP adaptor from BES or ebay.

When you say 1/2" which dimension is that? The OD of the fibre washer measures 0.936".

What does the male bit measure?

The OD of the flange inside the female BSP thread is 0.944".

Did nobody ever think of simplifying this bsp system? Or just stamping the size on the outside of the fitting? These people always have to make things difficult for anyone who's not in the trade.

Sorry I meant the INLET of the isolating valve.

That's a 15mm compression. I need a 3/8" compression to whatever is on the larger side of that isolator. That's the bit I'm unsure about.

I know. And the thread on 15mm compression is 1/2" BSP parallel.

So remove the nut and use the adaptor I suggested.

Ah I see. I was trying to find a replacement fitting rather that adding unnecessary joints.

And how would they be unnecessary when there is no other way?

Ok, i wasn't aware that the fitting I'm after doesn't exist? Is that what you're saying?

Anyway it's only one extra joint but is a parallel thread connection on lpg a good idea? I thought thread connections should be tapered?

Without rereading the thread, is this of any interest? 10mm ~= 3/8" ?

No - not a good idea to try using 10mm fitting with 3/8" pipe.  In fact it is almost 0.5 mm too big.

We've been here before.

Not really, as that is about using metricpipe, which I believe Mike isn't.

My answer is still correct, I think.

Don't mix and match 10mm fittings with 3/8" pipe.

Apologies - it looked quite different in the other photo - light blue handle.

And nickel coloured... but I can see the out of focus ‘gas’ stamp on it.
