I visited Grimsby once.

It was shut.

When I went it was before the invention of Satnav.

I called my contact on the Friday before I was due to be there on the Monday for directions from a local.

All went well until I got to the one-way system in the town centre, where it all went wrong and I got hopelessly lost.

When I eventually reached the site my local contact apologised, explaining he had been unaware that the local council were reversing the direction of the one-way system over the weekend ?

I once managed a project in Grimsby Telephone Exchange.

It was just off Grime Street.

Says everything you need to know about Grimsby really.

The marina at Grimsby is in the corner of a derelict fishing dock, with collapsed docks, and buildings.

It is about a 2 mile walk into town thru' a 99% derelict industrial estate (much of which is falling down in disrepair)

The town itself is a little better but is still very Grim.

Its unfortunate really as its neighbour on t'other side of the Humber is now an excellent 'destination' sort of place.

Leicester did it years ago, sadly they had all the one way streets leading to a square. All the roads led into the square and there were none leading out. We met a lot of nice people there until the Police arrived and managed to sort things out.

Why pay? You can moor on the towpath for 14 days for free in most places.

and scrotes are breaking into boatsas an easy target .The damage can cost more than a safe marina
