Bmc engine problem

Featured Posts

Bleed engine boat boat will run anything from hr to 2 on tickover. Any higher revs. Moving dies within a hr. Thinking air in fuel lines. But beside that now all of a sudden getting a lot of black smoke. Any advice much appreciated. Fuel Filters changed. Oil filter changed. New oil. Checked for any obvious leaks none detected. HELP

Bleed engine. Getting good at it now. Engine runs perfect no miss beats. But will then revs up a few times n die. Then have to re-bleed. Which makes me think àir in pipe.

Black smoke has only just happened. Checked air filter. Pancake type. Then breather pipe n cap all looks ok.

Water in fuel

Tank vent blocked

Lift pump drawing air - diaphragm - check for fuel in oil

Fuel filter/s blocked/water

stop solenoid worn

Overheating

Air filter blocked/wet

Engine consuming its lubricating oil - potential run away

First thoughts re. black smoke is air filter, remove the thing and see what happens. One way to isolate a stack of odd problems is to get a container full of nice clean diesel, 2litre milk containers are good, bodge up some sort of plastic tube, place it above the height of all the pumping gubbins on the engine, bleed it and see what happens, this will obviously cut out dirty tank problems, filter problems and maybe lift pump problems.
