Hi Peeps

Reading tomorrow and need to stay a couple of days and catch a train. Are there any moorings in Reading anymore? Can you still moor round near the  prison? I havnt been on the K and A for several years so any info from those in the know as to where to stay/moor will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Norty norty!! I suspect thats 2 hours if the cmers have been moved on?

C'mon... you can afford a couple of days at Tesco! £150 a day is a bargain Shirley.

I think the Reading Gaol loop is EA waters not CRT, if that helps.

The prison loop has 24 hr signs up now, someone here said. ISTR seeing the same signs and it was £10 a night.

Ahhi take it that Tescos moorings are no more? I stopped on them a few years ago b4 the huge increase in cming.

The jail loop is now adorned with signs inviting you to pay £10 to moor. Last time we passed through there were no boats. Christchurch Meadow has similar signs. Same round the back of Fry's Island.

Close to the loop, right at the border of CRT/EA (just downstream of the traffic lights) appears to be a space that everyone forgot. We have moored there without any problems.

No they are still there, but like I said, it is £150 a night.

Seriously!

Not free for two hours like most other Tesco moorings then!!

Nope. It is £150 the instant your boat falls stationary there. You don't even has to cast on. (Knitting term!)

Actually on reflection, I'll let you moor there for a discounted rate of £100 a night. Let me know when you arrive, I'll nip down and you can pay me in cash :giggles:

It sure seems perverse to build that lovely landing stage then put up aggressive signs saying 'No Mooring'.

No mooring rings are visible in the pic, however...

Indeed. Two hours stop & shop with overnight mooring prohibited would work.

There are rings, sensibly spaced.

Are those then not the signs that say 'you are welcome to moor, but it will cost you lots' ?

Have you not seen the photo of the signs, in the other thread?

Yes, and the above signs look to be identical (green centre with text, council & DE logos on the bottom) and saying "stop here and we charge you £100"

ah right, I have been confusing those signs with the other DE signs saying don't moor here or you'll get an 'overstay charge' of £150 a day.

So yes mooring is fine there but costs only £100 a day. Fair enough!
