Bradford
Hi Guys, I have Lister HR3 that won't tick over as slowly as I would wish, is there a certain speed that this type of engine will only tickover at ?
zenataomm
If you're trying to make it tick over very slowly in neutral then find it stalls when you put it in gear then it needs more.
RLWP
First steps. Has it got a build plate on the engine, if so what does it say And, is this a marine or an industrial engine? Richard
Bradford
Hi Richard, industrial, will check for build plate, next time I'm there, unfortunately that won't be until after the 20th of June as I'm away. Bradford
RLWP
The marine units have a separate idling spring mechanism between two of the pumps which the fixed speed industrials doesn't Richard
Bradford
Cheers Richard, is there a solution?
roland elsdon
Yes. We had an industrial hb3 in one boat, driving a prm off the flywheel not the output shaft. It worked fine and had a variable and adjustable slow tickover. Just as well as it went like a scalded rat.
