Wortham blake fuel pump

Hello again

Yes I`m back, not with a problem, just looking for

advice.

As you may or may not know I have been having problems with

gearbox output flange, sheered bolts and the like.

Well that is all sorted now ( touch wood ) but I did notice the fuel

pump was leaking a little and thought I would replace it.

I contacted a company in north walsham called small ford parts

and bought a new fuel pump ( they were very good by the way)

I fitted the new fuel pump to the wortham blake converted ford

anglia 105e engine and the difference in performance was staggering ! ! !

No poping and banging, no pause for the fuel to get to the carb and

no throttle lag. In short she feels like a new boat ! ! !

The advice I am looking for is - the fuel pump I replaced had a

blue hammerite painted brass bowl and the new pump has a

glass bowl.

What is the difference ? ?

Oh and the new pump has no primer lever under it

will it make any difference ?

Hope to hear from you soon

All the best

Sounds like a 105E car pump, which had a glass bowl and no primer lever. You may run into trouble with the glass bowl with the BSS. Will the brass bowl fit?

Yes the brass bowl is the same dimentions

as the glass one.

What is the problem with bss and glass bowls ?

In case it breaks or cracks and lets petrol flood out BOOOOM!!!!!    There should be a filter under there too, which lifts off to clean it.

Yes there is a gauze filter inside the fuel pump

It is brand new , so is the fuel pump.

I see where you are comming from with the glass

bowl but like all good " tinkers " I have not thrown the

old pump away and I`ll replace the glass bowl with the

brass bowl at the weekend.

Thats the idea. Make sure it sits nicely on the rubber ring.
