Time-lapse cameras - any recommendations?

I know a few of you on here have time-lapse video cameras on the front of your boats and I would be grateful for some recommendations please. I don't really want to pay more than about £150 although on the basis of 'you get what you pay for' , if £150 compromised on the quality too much then I'd probably be prepared to pay a little more.

Needs some Formula 1 engine noises, and tyre screeches, for a laugh.

If you have a compact camera, some have "hacks" to allow time lapse. I've had lots of fun with CHDK for the cannon compacts http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

I purchased a GoPro with waterproof housing but haven't got round to trying it yet for a timelapse cruise as I didn't want to stick the suction mount to the newly painted boat.

I'd say go with either a cheap GoPro (aka: sports camera) knock-off from Amazon, or use a time-lapse photography app on your phone (or a spare phone). Most of the apps will compile the photos into a video.
