Morris Sae30 v. Miller's Sae30

Featured Posts

I normally buy Morris Sae30 for my 2LW from Classic oils Aylesbury, but they have been forced to change premises and now only stock Miller's oil. Both seem to be the same spec and similar prices, but the Miller's is supplied in traditional 5 litre cans.

Any thoughts on the Miller's product?.

It was nearly an expensive visit ....... the owner imports cars from New Zealand and had a nice Austin A30 for sale - £4950, looked lovely and I started driving in an A35 years ago.....

If the two oils are the same spec there is nothing to choose between them That's what standardisation is all about.

With oils, like most things, there are different ways of meeting (or exceeding) the specification so they are not all the same. Of course in a few cases they might not even meet the spec. Morris and Millers are both specialist oil blenders with excellent reputations so in this case they are most likely almost identical, or at least equally good.

A little off topic, but do you know if they deliver to 'site', I.e, a sensible location near the canal? Have prices risen due to the smaller drum size available?

Morris will deliver direct to the boat, I have done this several times. You will need to phone them and discuss your location, most likely they will look at Google Earth so they know what you are talking about. Request a phone call 1/2 hour before delivery so that you can be waiting for the van.

Thanks Dave, there's a postcode for the mooring so should be fairly straightforward for them.

Thanks for all the replies and information. The Millers oil at Classic Oils works out to £5 per litre, not sure about the costings on Morris oils. I used to buy Morris oils in 25 litre drums but have found these unwieldy so the switch to 5 litre containers in no hardship.

I may give ACS a ring, or get some Morris oil delivered to home.

Called in at Midland chandlers Penkridge this week to pick some parts up. On the way back to Hatherton marina I passed a TFM farm shop in centre of Penkridge that stocks Morris’s oils . I bought 25 litres of SAE 30 golden film mineral oil for £59.18.  Absolute bargain I reckon and lovely people to deal with . Can’t recommend them enough . Loads of general maintenance parts in stock . They have numerous depots around Shropshire and Staffs.

£106 from Morris with "free" delivery so you got a real bargain there.

Gosh. I had an A35 s my first car too but mine was only £20, with a new MoT.

Wasn't long before it had an MG Midget engine bolted in. It was bloody lethal on those cross-ply bicycle wheels and tyres !
