My trusty netbook is showing its age.

I like its SSD, small screen size (9"), the fact it has a proper keyboard. It runs linux,it runs from a 12v supply.

What are todays similar offerings?

The macbook air 11 seems good, but also ageing.

I use a iPad and have a external keyboard for it (but rarely use).

I have a MacBook 12”, and it’s a beautiful piece of engineering. Barely thicker than a fag paper and a total delight to use.

I definitely like the MacBook air, and if they bring a new version out this year, I may be able to afford an older one.

The chrome book seems like the only other viable alternative to but still bigger than my netbook.

Yea, Ive got a mac book as well. Best laptop I've owned. Ruggedly built, so the screen doesnt get blown closed if you sit too near the ecofan (other fans are available).

That flue pipe looks very close to the woodwork too.   I've got a Lenovo Flex 10 Note book.  Keyboard and touch screen control. You sort of turn it inside out and stand it on its keypad to do the touch screen. Its W10 and works well.

Yes the flue is about 3" away, and has been since 1973.

I bought a W10 lappy a few months ago and abandoned it in disgust, it worked so badly.

It had more problems than I was prepared to waste endless time fixing. I binned it and bought the Macbook 12". Brilliant decision.

Everything 'just works'. How can you put a price on that!
