I haven't used a shoreline, or been in a marina, for a good few years and had new anodes fitted about two years ago. My boat was out of the water recently and I was surprised by how much the anodes had sacrificed.

They weren't worn out but I'd assumed they'd still look like new. I do always moor against pilings, using goat chains and I suppose the rust on the once galvanised chains should have been a clue.

If you have no shore power you have nothing to connect to a GI or IT, so there is no point.  As to anodes, most of us have them, but my understanding is they have an effective range of a couple of meters, so much of a 55ft or longer boat is unprotected.  I don’t think work boats have them and they don’t seem to paint or black them very often either, though I’m not sure how long they last.  So do you need anodes?  I’m not sure but I have 4 just in case........
