I do love me some old maps. Spotted this old one from 1850 showing the River Clyde with the entrance to Bowling Harbour and Bowling Basin and a part of the F&C canal.

That's just a small section of the full map which is at: https://maps.nls.uk/coasts/admiralty/1250

For more old Admiralty charts of Scotland, see: https://maps.nls.uk/coasts/admiralty_charts_list.html

I love to read old maps too. There's a wonderful site here

http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=53.7526&lon=-0.3387&layers=171&right=BingHyb

which I notice is the same site you've linked to.

It's a shame that sat navs are taking away many paper maps.

Ooh! Your link is better. I like the side-by-side maps. I can see (from those) that my street came about, roughly, in the 1940's.

Check out the other maps. The most detailed is in

1. Select a category: Great Britain

2. Select a map series: OS 25" 1885 - 1900 - Outline
