Rear Windows - Do They Exist?

Featured Posts

Has anyone ever seen a narrowboat with windows in the rear doors or bulkheads?  Probably wouldn't make much sense with a trad stern, but with a cruiser stern reverse layout it would let more light into the saloon - which to me seems like one of the issues with a reverse layout boat.

Obviously lockers on a cruiser stern might get in the way, but these aren't always against the rear bulkhead.  Is there any other reason why I haven't seen them on any boats?  Engine vibrations perhaps?

Yes there are loads about. All Oxfordshire narrowboats  had them fitted on the entire fleet until recently and I have seen others.

Its not so much just because its the rear, but more because of what is in the interior at the rear. For example if it were a bedroom I can't see the value of extra windows, you don't need loads in a bedroom. But if it were a kitchen (ie a reverse layout) then it would make sense.
