Visitor moorings on the Hertford Union Canal

Are there any visitor moorings on the Hertford Union Canal near Victoria Park? If so how hard are they to come by?

From memory there are moorings but it's first come first served. We moored overnight on the stop and shop mooring just before the first lock.

The whole of the Hertford Union is 14 day moorings, it is normally very busy, finding a mooring when you get there is pot luck, don't be afraid to breast up with another boat.

As Tim says, that area is now very busy with 14 day stay boats, only 5 or 6 years ago the area was a no go for mooring overnight so I suppose it is a big improvement....if you can get a space.

There have been some break in problems around there reported on London boaters.org in the last few weeks so may be not good for more than an overnight stay.

I used to leave Little Venice /Paddington and go straight through to Tottenham/Stonebridge when down there in 2009-11, as anywhere in between was a no go area. This has changed massively bow due to the numbers of boats in the area now...however, the local estates haven't changed much!!!

Plenty of space there at present - after a spate of break-ins (8 in one night the other weekend).

wow, that doesn't sound good, what did they steal or was it vandalism? 

I need to be there mid May, are people watching other peoples boats or is it every man for himself?

Ransacked - break-in (using crowbars and upwards), steam through, and burst out.  Repeat along line.  There is a patrol being organised, see the London Boaters FB page for info.

It was three abreast when I past passed by. Wouldn't fancy it. You'd be better off going further up on the Lea.

Are these boats ones that are unattended or are they doing this when people are on board?
