Daw End Branch - car in canal

Car in canal about 1 mile north of Longwood Junction. Just about passable due to the very high water levels this afternoon. CRT informed. I doubt it will affect any one as no boats on the move up here today.

I wonder why they rescued the spare wheel

From experience (as a SCUBA diver) they opened the hatchback and the spare floated out.

Reasonable semi-submerged as here. Less amusing totally submerged in low visibility (especially when you forget that the gas struts will overcompensate for the weight of the hatch under water - press the boot release and get a swift uppercut from the hatch followed by a second one as the spare wheel makes a break for freedom)

More than I have, not even a skinny one. (Kiss of death) I have only needed one in 5 years and then called the AA

Yep, last two cars have not had a spare wheel. Had a slow puncture last week in my two month old car. Pumped it up and just got it to the nearest tyre place a few miles away. I prefer spare tyres.
