dccruiser
The thought i have had for my current boat is to use the really strong 12volt magnets you get off ebay ... they do some that take 280 kilos of force to open https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/280kg-600lb-12v-Electro-Magnetic-Door-Lock-Holding-Force-Access-Control-UK/675757848?iid=253306317944&_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3D16d6b2a3da934531a5377d7e44dc90b3%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D160972298691%26itm%3D253306317944&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Rick Edited March 29, 2018 by dccruiser

I don't imagine it would be much but it would be 24/

It might be a misprint for 12W which would mean 1A constant draw. I’ve seen others that are 500mA (0.5A).
WotEver
The simplest and most secure arrangement I’ve seen was designed by Graham Reeves. The ‘deck board’ is a steel plate, hinged at the stern with a lip at the forward end. The rear doors close up to the lip, so if the doors are closed the plate can’t be lifted. The weight of the plate is assisted by a couple of rams.

This would not only help to keep thieves out, but it would also be a good way of keeping these little fellas onboard... 8 hours ago, WotEver said: The weight of the plate is assisted by a couple of rams.
