Me neither. A few quid extra to fill your tank is neither here nor there.

Not so sure: didn't you notice that, when petrol and road diesel went up to about £1.40 per litre, the roads were totally empty of traffic?

Gosh, there were two of us, then!

If you need/want to go somewhere and you need fuel you pay whatever price it is.

The most we have paid for red diesel was almost  £1.36 A litre at Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club. We needed it so we bought it and paid the price.

We bought red diesel from a local agricultural suppliers (in Jerry cans) for the boat and had reg no and address details taken.

A while later we had a visit from the men in the tricorn hats (actually black suits) who examined the diesel engines & vehicles in the workshop and around the smallholding.  They dipped the tank of the Land Rover and declared that all was well.

I have heard that their equipment can sniff the difference between red and white, although as Mandy siad, they would say that wouldn't they.

Where the men in the Diesel detector van

Boaters with cassette bogs already do much the same.

Only when :

1) They have run out of diesel, because they were too tight to fill up at the last Marina, or

2) Because the cut is frozen over (and if the had a pump-out, they'd be up the creek without a paddle)

The rest of the time (whilst cruising) they moor up outside the sanny-station, walk the 10-20 yards, empty and walk the 10-20 yards back.

No it was sh*te diesel that made the boat smoke for the rest of the week until we had used it all

Is there another  other diesel supplier at Lowestoft ?  Presumably there is beyond the bridge?

You may have unwittingly hit on the answer.

Fit all boats with a holding tank/digester, and run the engine on the gas produced. Simples!
