Popular Post Grebe
Having watched drifting snow all morning as it shifts about and builds up in places I thought a reminder to make sure all cabin ventilation, both low/level and high level are clear of snow build-up, was in order. Stay warm and stay safe.
blackrose
In these temperatures I daresay some people will be doing exactly the opposite and deliberately blocking their low level vents. I've been working from home all week partly due to the roads and I'm going through loads of coal to keep the boat warm.
Rob@BSSOffice
We are running some tests at the moment with mini four-gas analysers. An examiner stepped aboard a boat and the alert shrilled out. - Upshot: snow had blocked the mushroom vents and CO was starting to build up inside the boat and the occupants were not aware. We're all over faceache and the twittersphere with this message, but your neighbours who are delightfully unconnected to social media may not know or realise the danger. Please can you watch out for them? If you see a boat that has snow all round its roof and/or door vents, and its clear that stove or gas or oil appliance is running, out of community spirit, would you care to let them know if appropriate. BTW - belt and braces job - have you pushed the test button on your CO alarms lately? Keep yourselves safe and cosy from kneepdeepinsnow Norfolk Rob Edited March 1, 2018 by Rob@BSSOffice
philjw
I found the other day that when the boat was warm the roof areas around the mushrooms were clear of snow. Obviously the warmth was leaving via the vents. It could've a different picture if the boat was cold when the snow fell.
