house insurance cover for away from home boaters

Hi all ,

Can any one recommend a company that will insure boaters home and contents whilst away from home as some companies will not cover if away from home for over 2/4 weeks.

This must apply to many boaters?

Direct line 60 days i think... i just rent out under the let a room scheme

LV do 60 days unoccupied as standard.  

Longer than that for buildings and contents is difficult, though buildings only is available subject to conditions- water drained, weekly inspection etc.

I have been thinking about this.  To satisfy the insurance don't you just need "a responsible person" to visit the house within the period to check on it?  My wife's mother died recently and her house is empty pending grant of probate and sale, and that is what we need to do for that.

Age UK I believe do 90 days and as many consecutive periods as you like. Most companies only allow one period over 30 days

Think you would find many that do 60days...so shouldnt have problem with a little searching.

Aviva do 90 days - all you have to do is - the policy holder must stay over for at least one night (and be able to prove it) in each 90 day period - app £50 excess on a £300 premium.
