bizzard
If you burn petro coke type fuel on your stove like Excel, Multi heat ect. A good way of discovering any oily smoke escaping from the stove is to study the atmosphere around you. If you can't see the telly screen or the kettle, it is a good sign that you have oily smoke fug caused by a leaky stove. Anyway if its only a slight leak, a test can be carried out. Just light a gas ring on your cooker and if the ''tips of the flames are orange'' it is a sure sign of oily smoke in the cabin which may not be visible. But be aware that if you put the kettle on the stove then open a sachet of cup-a-soup and tip it into a mug alongside the stove, the tips of the flames will also turn orange. So every time you make a mug of soup, you must inhale some of the powder. This is where you find out if the mushrooms in your soup are just ordinary ones or not... Dr Bob
If you drop a bit of Sodium (the metal that is) in the sink, everything will burn with a yellow flame for hours.
