2.4 Fuel tank vent outlets
2.4.1
Does the fuel tank vent outlet, or the vent line swan neck, rise at least as high as the filling
point?

2.4.2
Is the fuel tank vent outlet fitted with an effective flame arrester or flame‐arresting gauze?
Check each vent outlet for the presence
of a flame arrester or flame arresting gauze.

Vent outlets must be fitted with either a suitable proprietary
flame arrester or gauze of at least 11 wires per linear cm (28
wires per inch) mesh.

Where the flame arrester is not of a suitable proprietary type the
openings in the arrester’s body must be at least of the same area
as the cross‐sectional area of the vent line.
Flame arresters or gauze must be complete and free of damage
or restrictions.

2.4.3
Is the fuel tank vent outlet in a position where no danger will be incurred from leaking fuel
or escaping vapour?

Check the position of each vent outlet.
Vent outlets must be clear of any potential sources of ignition and
must be in a position where no danger will be incurred from
leaking fuel or escaping vapour into the interior of the vessel.

We have one of them, but i'm not telling anyone in case they nick our fuel!

Bit of a 'give-away' (assuming you have a BSSC) as it will have a huge big label on it saying "Diesel" - unless you have implemented the latest anti-siphon technology and used a 'Pump-Out' label in lieu of 'Diesel'

I haven't got one like that either. ;) Good, aren't they. The filler is raised too, which prevents rainwater seeping past a dodgy seal like on those flush ones.

You put the "Diesel" label on the pump out cap for the syphoners.

Several thoughts occur to me looking at that photo.

First, I wouldn't want to rely on a rope staying on that diesel air vent, a proper dolly has that mushroom shape at the top for a reason.

Next, why are the ropes like that, as if you plan to tow the other boat on cross straps? If that is your intention, they're rather loose, there's the above worry, and are they strong enough to take the strain? Also you don't seem to have a stern fender to protect your rudder from being hit by the towed boat.

If you're not towing the other boat, I'd expect to see a line from your dolly to the bank, but maybe there was nothing available to moor to.

Quick question: why do many dollies (that you attach lines to at the stern) have a round cylindrical object at the top, but only on one of the two.

Engaging pedantry mode...

The only round cylindrical object at the top I can see is hexagonal, not round.
