Rather than ever clean the loo bowl, someone spent ten minutes making a lid, probably a good idea ............

Washing hands after a full on "blast" is for wimps............... men's rules.

I did wonder about the bit of ply, presumably it gets removed at the crucial moment.

The "safety digest" mag is a good backup for when the bog roll runs out.

In a former life civil service paper was of the shiny variety [IZAL overprinted "civil service"].

imho a glossy magazine will only lead to probems....

I am not sure why? I was suggesting the magazine could be read whilst awaiting a new supply of bog roll. Not sure what you were thinking ladyG:)

When I worked fro HMGov. (inland revenue) in the late '60's each sheet was printed 'Government Property'......it was the shiny variety.

Presumably the WC in the picture was not a 'Unisex' lavatory.

Its either a very big prop, or v.v.big wheel

With the right plastic disc fitted to the top, it could function as an excellent Frisbee.

I'm just old enough remember this loathsome stuff. It's hard to believe that any body though waterproof toilet paper was a good idea.

It made good tracing paper but no use at all for its intended purpose.  Probably didn't get nicked much.

When I was in the army, we used to call it "scratch & spread", like you said it was awful.

I have to say NB Esk, as I have spent most of my working life being the only woman in an all male work environment that photo you posted is the toilet of my nightmares, while it's not the worst sometimes there's a lot to be said for a hedge.

Always a plan, but plans go awry. Leave boat, go to pub, drink too much, walk back, that's where those hedges you mentioned will come in :-)

That's a £200+ bog roll holder, propped up against a set of ladders. Quality. I want to put into a marina like that!

You might struggle to "put into" that particular place.  The sole purpose of the crane pictured is to lift the gate to flood the dry dock.  The dock is actually the first lock of the old Dove & Dearne canal.
