Hi,

I have just fitted some new batteries that are sealed and should be charged at 14.4v. Anyway I have set my charger to profile 1 for sealed batteries which should be

Sealed Lead acid 14.4 13.6 12.8

 

but its seems to charge at 14.8 is this correct? does it boost the volts in case of voltage drop etc? solar mt-50 and smartguage seems to think its pumping the full 14.8 into the batteries!

Is the temperature compensation connected ?

Low temperatures require a slightly higher voltage, if your temperature correction is connected them the charger will automatically 'add a bit' extra.

My Sterling Inverter charger charges at about 0.5A higher during bulk mode before dropping to the Absorbtion charge. So the sealed setting starts at 14.9 volts for a short time, before settling at 14.4 volts for most of the time.

Id guess the Pro Ultra has a similar algorithm?

Mine certainly raises the voltage when the batteries are really cold. 

Not by enough though according to one of my SmartGauges!
