Can anyone recommend a two pack epoxy coating supplier?

Hi, I'm planning to get my narrowboat hull grit blasted and protected with a 2 pack epoxy coating. Can anyone recommend a suitable product that is available? I had heard that epoxy coating products are getting harder to find due to environmental reasons, but can't confirm that. My google and keyword searches here and elsewhere have so far been fruitless, but maybe I just need to search harder!  In the meantime, thanks in anticipation.

Thanks, have you any ideas where it's supplied? I seem to be drawing a blank on Internet searches.

Did you have your boat done with this recently, or if you've had your boat out of the water since, how had it performed? How many years has it lasted so far?

Thanks again

I used Hempel Hempadur 45143 or 45141, I can't recall which. The only difference is curing temperature.

I can't recall who I got this from but one supplier I chatted to is:

http://www.carterspaints.co.uk/marine/

Another supplier is Promain. There are others, the killer is the carriage which sort of dertermines the supplier!

If I Google Hempel Hempadur I get 75,000 hits, so not sure what you're doing wrong?

Ours was coated with the Hempadur three years ago and still looks sound. Not sure where you are located but Debdale Marina used this so may be able to supply you some or let you know where to get it.

I'd recommend Jotamastic 87 supplied by SML

I used 2 coats of Jotamastic 87 with aluminium followed by 2 coats of standard 87 in black.

You have a choice of standard and winter grade hardeners - go for WG otherwise you'll need to be out of the water for ages.

I've used this stuff professionally - it's surface tolerant and relatively easy to use. If you do use it and want any technical help send me a PM.

It's good stuff, but goes grey after weathering and needs a further top coat to maintain a black colour.

That's why I went for the Hempadur.

YMMV

Yes, it's called chalking but it doesn't affect the mechanical properties of the finished coating. I don't mind grey sides but if it's an issue then you can use a coat or two of Jotun Hardtop (instead of the Jotamasic 87 standard black) as your final epoxy coats. Hardtop isn't subject to chalking.
