Hi everyone

I recently bought this boat as a Colvic Northerner 26, absolutey love it but there is some confusion to what it really is,  the boat  measures from tip of bow to the transcom 31.6ft and beam is around 3 meters.  I was wondering if anyone knows about colvic, the boat data base on canalplacAC.co.uk show it as 28.8ft 1970 2.5 diesel (it has the 2.52 BMC) and not much else.

I've been told that the wooden cabin colvic northerners are the early ones as later were grp, I have no history to this boat as the man I bought it off had only had it for a year and hadn't used it much and didn' have time as he had just taken on a pub so needed it gone as he had no time for it.

Name is Hornblower and Cart number is 120066

TIA.

Greg

Hello

My dad and myself built hornblower  Colvic

from a shell prototype hull of the well known northerner 27 ‘

Built from a home property in Norfolk after relocating from Northamptonshire in the early 70 ‘s  hull was road trailed to Norfolk with a series 1 Land Rover  over 100 miles  and ten ish years later was launched at Brundall  Norfolk broads

Noticed this boat on canalworld.net and had to join this group just to comment as I , more my dad know all the info and history inside out 👍

Is this one ?

It was moored up at Bardney (On the River Witham) slowly made its way downstream getting deeper and deeper and deper in the water. Moored up at Woodhall Spa where it then sank.

Aye - he was a bit of a 'strange lad' (with problems). From memory a 'crowd fund' got it lifted and dried out but it sank again a few weeks later.

That's right.

There was outcry at the time as the thing had no licence, no BSS and spent long times littering up visitor moorings both when it was floating and when it was sunk.
