Cleaning under the mushroom vents

I normally vacuum the grilles underneath the mushroom vents on the ceiling whenever I'm hoovering the floor (which isn't that often), but last time I noticed what looked like insect detritus in there and so the other day I decided the take the tops off the mushroom vents and hoover them from the outside. I couldn't believe how much crap had built up in them over the years, mainly from spiders I guess - they were half blocked. I have cylinders made of lino between the outer and inner vent. Had I not installed those cylinders years ago I imagine the spiders and other insects would have made their way a lot further between the sprayfoam and ply lining. Do people regularly clean under their mushroom vents? What about the low level or door vents?

Now you come to mention it.....

Hmm, I must have a look and take remedial action!

I have liners fitted below the mushrooms in an attempt  to stop the insects spreading sideways.
