Freeloaders

Royal Wedding.

Its a tricky one really. Imagine you'd drawn the short straw in life and found you were grandson of the queen. Its not as thoiugh they have a choice. What would you have them do differently?

Well I am no royalist but this country sure as hell needs a boost at the moment and like it or not a royal wedding sure provides one for lots of people, so good luck to them I say...

Remove the short straw

I'm disappointed by your inability to imagine being born with a sold gold spoon in your mouth, and being totally unable to spit it out.

Trapped in inescapable privilege.

I bet they long for the anonymous life we lead.

There's been a report that a member can't reply to this topic, and he wonders if it is possible to reply to it only on a mobile phone. I'm trying it out by replying (or attempting to) on an ordinary computer.

I must admit that I don't see a connection between the topic title and the impending royal wedding. Who are these freeloaders, the wedding guests? That could be said of many weddings, but it would be an uncharitable point of view.

Ok Goliath, tell us what your real problem is. You come up with a couple of words and that doesn't convey anything. Are you a troll or just a sad person?

No, not a troll, but yes, sometimes sad.

A couple of words can convey a lot. Do I need to explain I ain't a Royalist?

Can you expand on this please ?

No, if you can't see or understand  inequality then I don't see the point of     expanding

It was in reference to MTB's comment on drawing straws, quite obvious to anyone.

.....You sound like a closet lefty that's full of envy to me.

I'm no closet socialist.

And I'll ignore the rest of the dribble you wrote.

To add, because you willprobably misunderstand. (Given your recent record) When I say I am no closet socialist, I mean I am open about being a socialist

I note you avoided answering my question in post 2.

What would you have them do, to avoid censure from you?

I hold they have little choice in the life they lead having been born into royalty.

I reckon they should be made to serve in the armed forces, that would toughen the so-and-so's up.

I have heard that Edward VIII made a pretty radical choice, especially for 1937 when society was much more rigid than it is now.

Gud eye deer. I'm surprised their parents didn't think of that.

Well, they should at least have to perform at xmas pantomime, they have the costumes.

And NO, again, I am NOT a CLOSET lefty. Just a lefty, a socialist, I like to see fairness, which may make me unrealistic to some.

We saw Pr Anne (from a distance) when she visited Devizes. Arrived in RangeRove sandwiched between two large men, two more in front. Spent a little while making small talk and handshaking with various local boat volunteers (most likely IWA types). Short boat ride in very cramped boat watched by everybody, back to gazebo for a bit more small talk, back into the RangeRover sandwich. A quick look at the www showed she had two more engagements that day many miles apart. I assume more smalltalk and handshaking with possibly very boring people. This is my idea of HELL, I wouldn't do it for £1 million a year, but if I did I would certainly want early retirement at 50.

How much would you want to their job?????

No beer because no time for a wee, though I suspect a quick voddy might just be viable.

They are very popular with both the natives and overseas visitors, look at all those royalty magazines, and all the womens magazines. If we got rid of them then we would have to get something to replace them. We could have democratic elections. At best we might get somebody like David Beckham, at worse some B list television "personality".

I'm not envious, far from it.
