Its an iconic location so is this CaRT admitting that the blue is actually inappropriate???? The University where I used to work did a very similar rebranding and they discretely admitted that the old "logo" would be retained for important things like degree certificates, an acceptance that the new image was a bit lacking. If CaRT had adopted the new logo but retained the black and white image I would have accepted it, but the change to blue has made me finally move to the anti-CaRT/ CaRT can't be trusted faction. Still no plans to join the NBTA though. That Ampersand is Horrid. ............Dave

At least the crass slogans were removed some time ago. JP

Captain Pegg
Spon Lane locks done using a Harry Neal No 2 windlass which scores an extra point per lock. We have kept time against our plan since being delayed up the 21. We have done the warm up and now heading to bandit country. JP
Peter X
Barney's come up Perry Barr locks on Nimble Be in the sunshine, but has a touch of heatstroke. He's gone below for a nap.
Peter X
Sorry, Bimble Be. We're short of water so when I made tea just now Barney didn't get one. He thought he was getting away from us just now but the oncoming boat wasn't in the challenge.

Peter X
On Tame Valley going west, just handed Barney to Firefly. Scary for him as we were a few feet apart passing at some speed. Is he going back down Perry Barr now?
Captain Pegg
Ryders Green done. Pretty quick until had to dredge mud in the long pound between locks 7 and 8. 10 minutes lost there. Approaching Ocker Hill. Which way shall we go?

larryjc
Started at the Dog and Doublet on the Fazely at 0800 (earliest we have ever set off). Now 'accidentally' stopped on the Gower link at 1800 for scoff - the longest we've ever motored in one day. Gin slipping down well and motivation to go on to midnight slipping with it. Looking forward to the finish. Photo below of one of the classic BCN sights - pretty sure this was an 'ASDA'. rusty69
The sun is setting over the BCN on this exciting first day. Fear not spectators, another fun filled day of frivolities is un-planned for tomorrow. Who is in first place is anyones guess. One thing is for sure most of the competitors will be moored near a pub tonight. Did Simon manage to get his finger out? Was the head gasket fixed? Who are the 3ft girls? Did matty50s find the bog? Did VV really move forward today, or just reverse a bit. And where is Laurie Booth.? Tune in tomorrow folks to the answer to some of these questions and to cheer on our feerless friends.
