what to report.....

Well, its all about welding at the moment, trying to get the hull seams done while its not too hot, as the hot days we're seeing the planks wobble a bit!!

The top bends are on, deck lid has been made, one side of the hull is fully welded internally (minus a couple of bits....), with the other side started, and the engine and fuel tank are in!!

We still need to reattach the brassware but it's great to see the K2 in her resting place, and the long distance tank from FMC Beech has been given a new lease of life.

We've also done some work to the stem iron, fabricating and end plate, and painted the stands.....

Fabulous to see. Have you thought about writing a book detailing the build?

I have...... it's whether anyone would buy it!!

I know you are claiming the originality of the chosen pattern of 'T' stud, but it reminds me of the famous image of Kate Winslet standing on the prow of the Titanic with arms outstretched, except that 'T' stud replicates the image of Les Patterson in her place.

It stands out, it may be as the original, and it may be more 'catchable' with a thrown line, but it just looks out of place on all the fine work done on the rest of the boat to date.

aah cool, i did wonder. its an interesting debate which i've had with numerous people, if Harland and Wolff, or Yarwoods had designed their T studs in this manner, people would be waxing lyrical about them and recasting them in their multitudes, you might even see them on the shelves of the local chandlers. Part of this whole process is to include features of these craft, which may have been lost over time. I think only Bedford and Dorset have their original T stud, Sweden's is different but unsure when it changed, if indeed it did. Very much function over form, but still part of the history, and we shouldn't be willing to dismiss it because other styles exist. :)

Maybe record it in the boat's history file and then replace it with a more elegant example ?

With all the fuss over the T stud , I still find it offensive that he has welded using metric rods instead of the authentic in keeping imperial ones

He probably hasn't got an irony chip implanted because he doesn't use 5G.
