Guest
A boat at Kintbury east of Kintbury lock, Kennet and Avon Canal has had diesel stolen out of its tank. Not sure how many litres taken but the tank was virtually emptied. CRT have also issued a stoppage notice for the pound between locks 68 and 69 due to a diesel spill until they clear it up, there are booms on the water. This may or may not be related to the theft incident.
Flyboy
Perhaps it wasn't stolen and the boat tank had a leak.
Guest
Unfortunately it was stolen, the tank filler cap had been vandalised.

Of course it didn't - if it did, then the owner would be responsible for all of the clean up costs.
ditchcrawler
When mine got nicked it left a bit of mess on the cut. I thought someone else had pumped their bilge or something until my engine stopped half way up Hatton.
Guest
In case I have confused the issue, the stolen diesel and the clear up operation were in two different areas. The spill was near Froxfield, which is a reasonable distance from Kintbury. A few years back there were a spate of thefts in which someone worked their way along the canal stealing diesel, hence me mentioning the spill as well.
